Understanding Marketplace Listings

We want to match you with the right wine, so we’ve added extra information on each Marketplace product listing so you can buy with confidence.

Provenance

In the wine world, provenance means knowing exactly where a wine has come from and how it’s been stored. Any Marketplace product with the Provenance stamp has a storage history which is authenticated and verified. Discover more about Provenance in our FAQs.

Ullage

Find Ullage on each listing by clicking the information icon. Rated out of 5, it lets you know how full the bottle is. 5 would mean a full or very near full bottle, whereas a 1 indicates a bottle with a level below the shoulder of the bottle.

Label

Find Label on each listing by clicking the information icon. It relates to the condition of the bottles’ label. Rated out of 5, where 5 means a perfect or near perfect label, while a 1 indicates serious discolorations, tears or missing parts.

Capsule

Find Capsule on each listing by clicking the information icon. This rating out of 5 indicates the condition of the capsule, be the cork, screw cap or any other method of closure. A 5 means a perfect seal with no obvious bumps or tears in the foil top, no leaks or discolorations, while a 1 indicates a seriously damaged closure.

Wine Ark Marketplace FAQs for all buyers

The common questions answered

Each wine is assessed when it enters Wine Ark storage and given three condition ratings, each scored from 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best).

The ratings cover ullage (fill level), label condition, and capsule or closure condition. Together, they provide a clear snapshot of the bottle’s physical state.

A wine in the Wine Ark Provenance Program has been stored in Wine Ark’s climate‑controlled cellars since its original release.

This means its storage history is fully traceable, offering added confidence when buying aged wine. Provenance wines are clearly marked with a banner on the listing.

Most wines on the Marketplace are owned by Wine Ark storage clients, not Wine Ark itself. The Marketplace operates as a collector‑to‑collector platform supported by Wine Ark’s storage, expertise and inventory systems.

Wine Ark Marketplace FAQs for Managed Cellarage sellers

The common questions answered

Only Wine Ark clients with wine stored in Managed Cellarage can list bottles for sale on the Wine Ark Marketplace. Wines must already be receipted, inspected, catalogued, and stored within Wine Ark’s climate‑controlled facilities to be eligible.

Managed Cellarage ensures verified provenance, professional storage conditions, and bottle‑level inventory tracking. This allows Wine Ark to confidently present wines to buyers with trusted storage history and condition details, which is essential for resale.

Once logged into your Wine Ark account, you can select wines from your online cellar and choose to list them for sale on the Marketplace. Because your inventory is already digitised and barcode‑tracked, no additional handling or photography is required from you.

No. Your wine remains stored in the same Wine Ark facility throughout the listing and sale process. When a sale occurs, Wine Ark handles picking, packing, and delivery directly to the buyer.

Sellers control their own pricing. You can list bottles at your chosen price, with the final advertised price shown inclusive of GST and Wine Ark’s commission, so buyers see a clear all‑in cost.
